Graham and Bre are delighted to open Pentre Mawr House (Graham`s family home of four hundred years) as a country house. The houses mirrors their other property at Sychnant Pass House in Conwy. It has a lovely romantic feel to it...set as it is in near 200 acres of meadows, park and woodland. All the little extras that Sychnant has become know for are also apparent in Pentre but it is run on a much softer line. There is a pool in the wall garden which is a great suntrap (finishing end of April) Breakfast is served in the morningroom or on the Georgian terrace on warmer mornings. Dinner will be served in the formal dining room but with none of the stuffiness. There are three lovely sittingrooms all with comfy sofas and portraits of Graham`s ancestors (some are quite a dour lot!!) The hidden walled garden is a lovely place to sit and read or just relax and smell the roses. Bedrooms are delightful with four poster beds and slipper baths and sofa in the bathrooms. There is a heated swimming pool in the walled garden which is a wonderful sun trap. You can view more by going to the website. We have always welcomed Children at Sychnant but because of the outdoor pool and old chapel and dairy which while grade 2 listed are quite dangerous we have been advised that it`s not a great place to have children. Pets are most welcome in the gardens (approx three acres) but will need to be on leads if walking the farm land particularly where there are farm animals Pentre Mawr House is owned and operated by the Carrington-Sykes family who also own Sychnant Pass House in Conwy winners of the many awards listed below :
