Classic manor house with modern approach to country living serves up the areas best Game and Seafood. The Plough is very much the ideal of the country-house experience, this beautiful Elizabethan house, built by wealthy farmers, has been a welcoming hostelry since the mid 1900`s and over the past few years renowned throughout the region for fine food. The bedrooms, some new some old, are comfortable and quiet and include lovely little extras like decanters of sherry and waffle bathrobes. The bar, restaurant and private rooms have recently been renovated and brought to life. The atmosphere is now more informal with welcoming staff, glowing log fires and excellent food. The gardens, which are being replanted, are private and pretty, some with views of the church. The restaurant spills out onto the front terrace and lawn for meals, coffees, teas and drinks shaded by huge umbrellas. |
