The Murray Arms Hotel is a traditional 18th Century Scottish Coaching Inn centrally located in Gatehouse of Fleet. This charming town of whitewashed buildings stretching along the wooded banks of the Water of Fleet in the heart of the beautiful Galloway hills is one of the most picturesque areas of Scotland. Food served all day. The Murray Arms Hotel is steeped in history, with parts of the building dating back to 1642 when it was the original ‘Gait House’ or Tollbooth from which the town takes its name. In 1760 the present building was constructed as a Coaching Inn on the Dumfries to Stranraer stagecoach route, and in 1763 Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet, wrote the stirring anthem ‘Scots Wha Hae’ in a room now named after him.
