A house of character where the food is excellent and the beds amazing. Set in a beautiful country garden. North of Burton-On-Trent, just off the A38/A50 and convenient for East Midlands and Birmingham Airports.

After the River Dove abandons the cascades of the Derbyshire Dales, it winds langourously through the fertile flatlands between Burton-On-Trent and Derby. The area has a pastoral beauty scarcely known and barely touched by modern times. Rolleston-on-Dove is the quintessential Old English village complete with thatched cottages and a babbling brook, The Dove no less, running through it. This is the setting for The Brookhouse, not just posing postcard-pretty by the river but a charming village character.

The Brookhouse has woven a kind of magic over the people who work there. They are all local and as loyal as can be, two of the staff have been there 20 years and the only new boy is the owner, John Westwood, who has been there only 11 years!! The service is nimble and comes wreathed in smiles and a winning country accent.

The restaurant has an excellent reputation for good food. Soft lights and candlelight reflect in silver and crystal; fresh flowers are everywhere. Freshness is the order of the day and your food is cooked to order. The wine list offers imaginative, rare and unusual wines.

The bedrooms are splendidly appointed but do ask to see the other bedrooms; you will find a truly remarkable collection of antique beds gorgeously caparisoned. Comfortable, too!!

The The Brookhouse Hotel has 19 rooms on 3 floors.
