One of Yorkshires hidden gems

The hotel is tucked away in a quiet residential area - yet only a minute or so from the main road, and close to airport, railway, motorways and the major cities of Leeds and Bradford. The hotel is named after the nearby Five Rise Locks on the Leeds and Liverpool canal, a masterpiece of 18th century canal engineering.

The hotel is a Victorian stone building, a former mill owners house. There are great views of Airedale, and the open country towards Ilkley. The hotel is small, informal, and independent; there are comfy sofas, and interesting art. Dogs are welcome.

Major tourist sites are only a short distance away.... Haworth and Bronte Country, the World Heritage site at Saltaire, Ilkley, Harrogate and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Owned by a television drama producer, the hotel has earned a top reputation for the quality and value of its food, with outdoor dining on the terrace in summer. Restaurant open to non-residents: Dinner, Monday to Saturday; Sunday Lunch Ratings/Awards:AA 4 Diamonds
